Air Supply From the Heart World Tour 2008

Love was in the air as Australians Russell Hitchcock and Briton Graham Russell, of the long-running duo Air Supply, sang in front of 6,000 screaming fans at the Arena of Stars on 23rd of June 2008 . The duo's love tunes have tugged at the heartstrings of music lovers all over the world for so long. The concert seemed like a natural follow-up to the their success in the showbiz industry.

Billed "Air Supply From The Heart: World Tour 2008, Live In Malaysia", the event kicked off with the duo coming on stage at 8.35pm, much to the delight of the adoring audience. The crowd cheered without stopping, and it seemed like an impossible feat to get them settled down. Right from the opening number, Sweet Dream, the duo struck up a good rapport with the fans. Backed by a three-piece band, the duo showcased impeccable showmanship as they sang contemporary adult chart-toppers from their multi-platinum albums.

It was clear that Russell and Hitchcock could feel the energy in the air and didn't waste time giving the audience what they had come for. From the popular Even The Nights Are Better, they progressed to another unforgettable ballad, Just As I Am. It wasn't long before they got the crowd humming and singing along. The rendition of their ballads, especially the more familiar ones like Every Woman In The World, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, Goodbye and Lost In Love, was a happy stroll down memory lane. During one segment, Hitchcock took the opportunity to praise Malaysia for its rainy climate.

He explained that having performed in various hot and dry countries prior to the concert, the duo found the rain a welcome relief. Prior to their stint here, the duo had thrilled fans in sold-out concerts in the United States, Brazil and Canada, among other places. Air Supply had a string of hits after making its international debut in 1980. Today, the band's greatest hits are still enjoying regular air play. Organised by Star Planet, with the support of Tourism Malaysia, Air Supply will be thrilling Malaysian audiences yet again at the Magellan Grand Ballroom in Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia .

I first published news about this tour sometime ago and since then there was a change. Belinda Carlisle is not coming and Howard Jones has replaced her. Too bad my favourite singer can't make it. The Here & Now tours are one of the most successful and high profile of all the 80s' tours. So far, there had been 5 UK tours as well as tours in Australia, Japan and Europe. Now, the tour stops over to Genting Highlands, bringing to you a line-up of evergreen artistes who include Bananarama, Paul Young, Johnny Hates Jazz, Howard Jones and Limahl who will have the audience rocking in Arena of Stars.

Bananarama's infectious 'Love In The First Degree' never fails to get the audience tapping on their feet when they perform this hit. Paul Young's signature title 'Everytime You Go Away' coupled with his soulful voice has made him one of the most respected British singers of all time. As for Johnny Hates Jazz, the group vaulted to international stardom following the release of their single 'Shattered Dreams' and there had more success following that. Howard Jones who has released a string of hits such as 'New Song', 'What is Love', 'No One Is To Blame' and more has continued to perform around the world. Earthquake in Malaysia: 5.0 registered on Richter scale

I was preparing an article about The Malaysian Election outcome when I came across this article by CJCM ( kualalumpurishome.com )on March 10th, 2008 and this is a very good article .

Yes…. Malaysia was hit by the worst earthquake in history. I am not talking about the earth-moving and tsunami-generating earthquake our neighbouring country Indonesia is very familiar with though. But I am talking about the political earthquake that has rocked the entire nation on 8th March 2008, causing the BN Government machinaries and Pak Lah to finally wake up from their sleeps…. only to find out much damages the worst BN-man-made disaster had caused to the BN Government… the damages, however, could not be translated to any specific monetary value though.

The aftermath of the earthquake was mainly felt in the Peninsula Malaysia states but one northern state of Malaysia, Perlis, escaped the catastrophe almost unhurt. Other states in West Malaysia also felt minimum shakes from the tremor.

The earthquakes which had registered 5.0 on the Richter scale, nevertheless, had caused five Malaysian states to fall to the opposition parties where Kelantan, the epicenter of the worst among a series of nationwide earthquake, had retained power under the popular PAS Government with lot more seats returned to PAS. Four other states, also identified as the epicenters of equalling destructive forces, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor had also crumbled under the intense pressure caused by strong tornadoes which had been blowing for about two weeks prior to the historic date of 8th March 2008.

With 5 states now under the opposition control (hence 5.0 on the Richter scale), the BN Government is now reduced to debris although it still managed to control the Parliment with just a simple majority…. totally unprecendented with an earthquake that had registered just 5.0 on the famous Richter scale. Can you imagine what will happen to the BN Government if an earthquake with the magnitude of 6.0, or 7.0 or even 8.0 has hit our beloved nation on Saturday?

Malaysiakini however reported that there had been no chaos at all among the ordinary people who had been well prepared to face the much anticipated national disaster .

Malaysia Election Is Today

Today is election day in my country and I hope things will be fine just like just like before or better then before . I hope there will be a new beginning for better for all Malaysians . Tonight until midnight the result will be out and I am ready to watch live .

Black Eyed Peas Rock The Peak!!!

Its been more than a week since I went to the Black Eyed Peas concert in Genting Highlands, Malaysia but still I couldn't help myself thinking how great and energetic their performance were. Despite the slight drizzle and the chill night air, it seems that nothing was going to stop the fans from lining up for their much anticipated Black, Blue & You Tour 2007 at Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. The California-based quartet of Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie are well known for their revolutionary music and energetic dance moves.

The stage was large and had a big screen behind it featuring scenes from the group's music videos as well as projected images of the band members themselves during the concert plus two more smaller screens on either side of the stage.

When the Black Eyed Peas emerged on stage, there was screams and thunderous applause of the crowd. Even I screamed loudly when I saw them for the first time on stage. The group began with its powerhouse hit Hey Mama, followed by Dum Didley , My Humps, Don't Lie, Shut Up, Mas Que Nada, Don't Phunk With My Heart, Pump It, Where Is The Love and Let's Get It Started with Will.i.am and Fergie sang their own songs as well. Fergie sang songs from her debut album like Big Girls Don't Cry, Glamorous, London Bridge and Fergalicious. She also perform one-handed backflips while singing which drove the crowd wild.

Black Eyed Peas managed to finish the two- hour show on a high note and it was definitely one of this year's most memorable performances. I was kinda disappointed for not being able to record their concert footage longer because I was only using 512MB memory card. Should have bought the 1GB instead.
